Abstract
L’incontro tra la tecnologia informatica e quella delle telecomunicazioni avrà importanti conseguenze sulla società e questa trasformazione sta già ora significativamente interessando molti diversi aspetti della nostra vita. In effetti, Internet e il World Wide Web stanno ridimensionando il ruolo del sovrano: la rete disperde il potere dal centro alla periferia, mentre un numero sempre maggiore di persone ha accesso all’informazione e la usa per indirizzare i mercati. Le nuove tecnologie permettono già ora a milioni di persone di possedere azioni, e questo gruppo sociale sta diventando una potente forza politica, nettamente schierata a difesa del libero mercato.
The marriage of computers and telecommunications will have important consequences on society, and this change is already having a significant impact on many different aspects of our lives. Indeed, the Internet and the World Wide Web are reducing the role, with the network dispersing power from the centre to the periphery, where more and more people have access to information and use it to direct markets. Today new technologies allow millions of people to own stock, and this new social group is now growing into a powerful political force, strongly on the side of the free market.
