This article is a rejoinder to Vittorio Possenti's critique. Albert feels that Possenti's description of his original thesis is unfair insofar as he considers only epistemological works and not those specifically devoted to theology. Albert also believes that it is untrue that critical rationalism cannot answer for the theoretical and metaphysical activity of human reason: it is by no means tantamount to a positivist position. Finally, Albert stresses how the confidence which Possenti places in the truth of the philosophy of St Thomas is in no way justified.
